Toyota Corona is a mid size wagon manufactured in Japan in year 1997. The corona was popular both locally and in outside countries. Toyota Corona was a predecessor of Crown. Therefore majority of styling was in resemblance to Crown. The Corona was a popular along with Crown and land cruiser. Each model was with different kind of engine configurations. The Toyota Corona was introduced in United Kingdom as Camry and United States as Carina.
The T10 version of Corona had engine with 997 cubic centimeter with overhead valve with P series engine type. The series T20 and T30 had fuel capacity of 1.5 liter with R series of motor. The power was obtained from 1 liter of P series of motor and the larger engine was about 1.9 liter P series of motor. The Corona with T40 and T50 series has 4 R engine having 1587 cc displacement with 2 carburetors. The model has horsepower of 90 brake hp. T80 sedan was introduced by Toyota and also T90 sedan with hard top coupe in 1970 until 1974. The features like four cylinder engines and cylinder having capacity of 1.9, 1.7, 1.6, and 1.5, to 2 liters of fuel. T80 car underwent some enhancements with fuel injection which is electronically powered. It was also equipped with 18R-E overhead cam single. The models have 2000SR and 2000SL with engine capacity of 2 liters.
The series T100 and T120 which was made in 1974 until 1978 had fuel capacity of 1.6 to 2 liters with single over head cam design. In the American markets the car was with engine capacity of 20R 2.2 liter. The series T130 in 1978 until 1982 has engine capacity of 1.6 liters to 2 liters. In year 1981 the car came with the engine capacity of 1.8 liters 3T engine.
The T10 series of Toyota Corona had monocoque chassis design and the car was with four doors. In series T20 and T30 the front end of the car design resembled that to the Ford. The series T40 and T50 had different kinds of styling. It had wagon with three doors, a five door hatchback as an extended cab. The hatchback had front end in slanted position and the headlights were positioned within the grille limits. The T80 series wagon came with four doors and T90 coupe came with two doors. T100 had four doors sedan and had two doors coupe and four doors wagon. This series had large headlights and taillights and there were enhancements made in grille styling and hood styling. The Japanese used cars of these series in American market came with long bumpers. The T130 series was more comfortably and stylish. Sedan came with four doors and coupe came with two doors.
The interiors of T40 and T50 series were spacious and the cargo area was also huge. The series contained disc brakes in the front wheels. There were sensor panel based on electronic technology to measure the fluid level and bulb status in T100 and T120 series. This series also contained shifter feature attached to steering wheel. This series rear wheel drive feature. The T130 series was more advanced with front suspension and rear suspension with independent struts. There were disc brakes in rear and front wheels. T140 series is the latest and longest running Toyota Corona which is with rear wheel drive.
Toyota Corona also came in taxi version which was seen in Honk Kong, Singapore, Panama, Japan, and Macau. The Taxi came with 1.8 liter fuel capacity. It had upright roof system and the rear end was taller with comfortable seats. The T170 series of Toyota Corona was launched in 1987, which was seen in European markets as Carina II.
